The Boston Pickling Cucumber is an heirloom variety dating back to the pre-1880s. Per D. M. Ferry in 1930, This is a very productive variety that is extensively grown for pickles. The vines are vigorous. The fruits are bright green, medium-sized, very smooth, and symmetrical. The flesh is crisp and tender.

Tips:The Boston Pickling Cucumber should be planted in fertile soil, amended with compost or well rotted manure and kept well watered. Trellising the vines allows for good air circulation, takes up less space and provides shade for heat sensitive crops like lettuce. They benefit from growing on black plastic and by using row covers for weed, insect control, and more rapid growth.
