The more sun the sweeter the fruit. Not picky of soil conditions, but best sited in a sheltered location away from winter winds. This variety is self-pollinating. Vitis labrusca Catawba, is a American grape that produces copper red berries. Greenish flowers appear in spring, giving way to grapes later in the season. This grape is often used for wines (blush and rose) , champagnes, jams and juices
