Description

Henna has been used since ancient times to color hair, skin, nails, and fabric; producing an orange to brown dye. The waxy green leaves, stems, and pink, yellow, or white flowers are used in perfumes. Henna also makes a good houseplant. Germinate in moist paper towels in the refrigerator for four days and then transfer to a warm spot.

Germination: 7-14 days

Germination Temperature: Optimum soil temperatures 70-75F

Seed Planting Depth: Sow on the surface and press into the soil

Starting Indoors: Start indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost. Cold treat seed by sowing into moist soil or paper towel, wrap in a clear plastic bag and place in refrigerator for 4-5 days. Provide 70-75F soil temperature for germination.

Sowing Outdoors: Not recommended

Care:Pinch seedlings back to encourage branching.Grow outside until temperatures drop below 50F then bring indoors over the winter. Place in a sunny spot and don’t over water. It may drop its leaves but they will come back after adjusting to the indoors.
